Regions4 at SDG Summit
On September 18th and 19th, global leaders are gathering at the UN Headquarters in New York to give a new impulse to the achievement of the SDG through refreshed, stronger commitments. The Summit will build on the outcomes of the High-Level Political Forum, which provided insights and reckoning on the advancement in SDG implementation.
Regions4 will be in New York with over twenty delegates from eight countries and three continents and with its Executive Director, Jordan Harris. The network contributed to the Statement to the SDG Summit of the Organized Constituency of Local and Regional Governments (LRGs), a joint political declaration by all the networks taking part in the Global Taskforce for Local and Regional Governments. The Statement advocates for recognition of the crucial role of Subnational Governments in achieving the SDGs and in leading the main transitions envisioned by the UN.

SDG Action Weekend – 16 – 17 September 2023
To provide a participation space to Stakeholders, the UN together with the Major Group and Other Stakeholders (MGoS, which includes Subnational Governments) and other partners organized this two-day initiative. It will collect key messages to convey during the SDG Summit through MGoS delegates who will speak in the Summit sessions.
Delegates from the Basque Country (Spain), Catalonia (Spain), Congope (Ecuador), Flanders (Belgium), Lombardy (Italy), Scotland (UK), Quebec (Canada) and Yucatan (Mexico) will participate in the events. These will be an opportunity to advance in the advocacy journey of Subnational Governments, to create stronger networks and to showcase high-impact initiatives.
