On the road to COP27, regional governments need to show how multi-level action delivers and how their expertise can inform international negotiations.
This session will look at the state of play on adaptation and resilience and the importance of regional leadership for the resilience of our planet. It will analyze the political opportunity to influence the Global Goal on Adaptation and COP27 processes as well as its connection with the new Global Biodiversity Framework and the UN High-Level Political Forum review of SDG 14 (life below water), and SDG 15 (life on land).
It will also assess the role and implications for regions and facilitate high-level discussions on the positioning of regional governments within this dialogue, and how to best support the delivery of adaptation and resilience efforts on the ground through enhanced cooperation across regions.
Ultimately, this event will see the development of the Declaration of Regions with the contributions of regions to Egypt’s COP27 and the Race to Resilience campaign.
